Welcome to game release season kids. There’s lots of superheroes this week, with a new LEGO game and a new Batman game. There’s 22 games on my list here, and at least one for every platform. While not every one of these will appeal to everyone, there is probably at least one game this week that has your interest, right? ~Don P.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (PS3, PC, Wii U, and Xbox 360) is like a dream come true. I still remember when the first LEGO Batman came out, I was excited but longed for a Marvel game. I’m just more of a Marvel fan, but that’s personal preference. Either way, TT Games has heard my beckoning and is finally releasing a Marvel LEGO game, stacked with all of my favorite characters and then some. This time around, they are even adding DLC characters, because 100 characters just isn’t enough apparently.

[one_third]releases22_rocksmithOne of the neatest games to come out of the Guitar Hero collapse is getting a new edition, Rocksmith 2014 (PC, PS3, and Xbox 360). The game comes with an adapter that allows you to plug a real guitar into the game and learn and play real songs. Real guitars, real songs. Real guitar lessons. All of that, in a game. Also, Deftones’ “My Own Summer” is on the disc. Excellent.[/one_third]

[one_third]releases22_ravenscryLast year, there was a pirate action-RPG shooter that had my eye. I was rather disappointed in Risen 2, to say the least, but Topware Interactive (famous for Two Worlds) is going to try to redeem the genre with Raven’s Cry (PC, PS3, and Xbox 360). It seems to have a lot of the same features as the previous pirate game I mentioned, but Two Worlds had a following, though I never played it. So I’m a little hopeful that this is a good pirate game. Coming out the same week as Batman, though, it will have to wait.[/one_third]

[one_third_last]releases22_HowToSurviveHow to Survive (PC, PS3, and Xbox 360) looks like a more open version of a shooter I loved (Dead Nation), with a little less shooting. There’s skill trees, something I am a big fan of, zombies, something else I like a lot, and shooting. Anyone that reads the site often knows that I love shooting. I’m a little curious as to how long the campaign is, and if it’s good enough to play multiple times like Dead Nation was.[/one_third_last]

The third installment in the Batman Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Origins (PS3, PC, Wii U, and Xbox 360), comes out this week, too. Set five years before the events of Asylum, Origins tells the story of a younger Batman and pits him against a few new main villains. I don’t really care what the plot is because as long as it is as well versed as the past two games, I’m sure it’s going to be golden. The only thing that concerns me is that Rocksteady Studios is not developing this one. So we will see if someone else can pick up the ball and run with it, or if the franchise folds after this. Also, there’s multiplayer this time, which I am not sure how to feel about yet.

[one_half]releases22_Sonic-Lost-WorldSometimes, I think SEGA just looks at Nintendo’s Mario and wishes Sonic was the same thing for them. Not all of the time, but sometimes. Now is one of those times. When I did a little reading about Sonic Lost World (3DS and Wii U), all I could think about was SEGA trying to grab people who want another Super Mario Galaxy. Sonic plays on spherical worlds, like Mario Galaxy, and is even exclusive on Nintendo products. Hmm.[/one_half]

[one_half_last]releases22_batmanBatman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (Vita and 3DS), anything but a port of the console Arkham game, chops up the Arkham Origins game and delivers a 2.5D version semi-sequel to the console variation. There is no jumping, which I think is weird, and Batman can work the environment much like Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet. Another big change is the lack of experience points and leveling up. Weird, just weird. Part of the fun is unlocking more moves, getting more gadgets, and just becoming more and more bad-ass as you go through the game.[/one_half_last]
