Nothing awards worthy entering the arena this week (at least in wide release) but evidently that is because the memo went out that this is Turn the Clock Back week as we get a remake of a horror classic and the return of two ghosts from action movies past.  ~Chris

With all the media over the last week about the bullying case in Florida and yesterday being Spirit Day, the remake of Carrie enters the market at a time where some of its underlying issues are at the height of media. It’s also the lone horror film to enter theaters in a few weeks and with Halloween just a couple weeks away, this smells like box office gold. Look for our review sometime next week.

Earlier this year Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone both released films that were generally considered failures both commercial and critical bombs (although I like The Last Stand). The two hope their box office fortunes take a turn for the better with Escape Plan, a throwback action film that sees the two aging action stars trying to escape from an experimental super-max prison. I still have a fond place in my heart for these two but I don’t know if many others do and critics haven’t been warm to it so far.
