In Theaters: Counselor Grandpa
I never thought I’d see the day where Ridley Scott and Cormac McCarthy team up to do battle against Johnny Knoxville and Knoxville wins both critically and commercially but that is going to happen this week. ~Chris
Cormac McCarthy is considered one of America’s greatest writers and Ridley Scott one of film’s greatest directors. The two have joined forces to produce The Counselor from McCarthy’s first original screenplay and they’ve brought the A list along with them to star in it. None of that really seems to matter though as the film is currently getting skewered by critics for being a thriller devoid of any thrills.
People like to watch other people do stupid things. It makes them feel better about themselves in some way or other to realize that they aren’t the dumbest person on the planet. Johnny Knoxville knows this and has made a career out of doing stupid things to himself so people can laugh at him, while slyly taking their money from them. Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa seems like it fits in with Knoxville’s past works and should provide plenty of laughs for those that go looking for them.
