Mobile gaming is becoming more and more commonplace but sorting through that junk is often pretty difficult. Writing full reviews for mobile games is often tedious and boring but we still want to be able to help you guys out when it comes to figuring out what is worth your time, so sorting through the crud is what Wandering Wednesdays is all about. Each week we’ll look through the app store and try out a few of the latest releases, letting you know if something is worthwhile or not. This week I killed some “creepy” monsters and built a town, matched tiles, got dressed for Halloween early and ran from the undead.  ~Chris

Shadowslayer: Dawn of the Lightforge is a free-to-play action RPG with town building and management aspects. The action RPG parts are rather simplistic but well done with some cheesy story premise backing them. The town building and management parts though play just like every other free to play type game on iOS. It’s either a pay to play or wait and play approach and that sadly extends to being able to access the RPG missions as well. Considering all the other games I have to play, I’ll do neither and move on to something else.

Double Fine’s Costume Quest came out three years ago on consoles but now fans on iOS can take the stylistic, turn-based RPG out on the go. The combat was designed around timing based button presses and that doesn’t translate fantastically to touch devices but it is serviceable. If one is looking for a Halloween themed game to play over the next two weeks, it is hard to not recommend this one.

harmony is a simple tile matching game where players must match lines of tiles up to create solid state bars. Each tile can only be moved a set number of times and moving a block incorrectly will result in the stage being failed. That said, while the premise may seem a bit stressful, harmony is anything but. With its soothing soundtrack and its simple puzzles, this is a game that I can see people getting lost in.[/one_half]

Every week there seems like there is a new endless runner and most of them are pretty standard and bring nothing new to the table. But then I stumbled across Escape from Doom, a first person endless runner. Outside of the novelty of being a first person runner, there isn’t much to write home about in terms of the game but if you enjoy the game type and are looking for something just a little bit different, it might be worth a shot.
