Last week may have had quantity, but this week has some serious quality in it. The new Disney game, Saints Row, Splinter Cell, and another X-COM game…all four major releases this week are on my list to play, and I know I can’t be the only one looking forward to more than one game coming out this week…~Don P.

Releases20_DisneyInfinity

When Skylanders came out a few years back, I wondered who would be next to jump on the “toys in a game” gimmick. I shouldn’t call it a gimmick really because I loved both of the past Skylanders games, as do my kids. Disney has taken the idea a step further with Disney Infinity (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U, and 3DS). Instead of adventuring through some seemingly-random levels (I was never into Spyro, so I never had any clue if the levels where part of the Spyro world or not), players get to put their character on the portal and play in a world based on said-character. Of course, there is also a mode where you can mix and match characters. The familiarity is going to be the selling point, because I know I am not the only one who is going to buy this because I am a fan of Disney products.

[one_half]Releases20_SaintsRowThis is one of those awesome cases where our review is live when a game comes out, so I will kindly direct you to Chris Scott’s review of Saints Row IV (PS3, PC, and Xbox 360). Based on his review, I may end up giving this one a shot despite not liking the third game so much. The super powers sound like a neat hook, and something that may drag me into the game a little more than the last one.[/one_half]

[one_half_last]Releases20_SplinterCellSplinter Cell: Conviction looked awesome. Sadly, I didn’t get a a chance to play it because I am one of those few gamers who doesn’t have an Xbox 360. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U) is going to make up for that by not only releasing on the PS3, but also PC and Wii U. Yes, the Wii U is getting a serious multi-platform game. Joking  aside, I am not big into stealth games but have been wanting to try one of the newer Splinter Cell games after playing the Batman: Arkham games. High-tech gadgets are neat in real life and video games.[/one_half_last]

Releases20_TheBureau

I’ve been waiting for The Bureau: X-COM Declassified (PC, PS3, and Xbox 360) for some time now. I have this third-person, squad-based shooter built up to be such an epic game that it’s got a lot to live up to at this point. Surely, it’s a combination of my love for shooters and last year’s award winning X-COM: Enemy Unknown. Either way, I can’t wait to shoot aliens in an action setting, and still have a tactical layer of depth with positioning my squadmates and such. Also, the “oldies” era is a favorite theme of mine (read: Fallout).
