Last week was basically the close of the summer blockbuster season but that doesn’t mean the releases are going to dry up. This week we see four wide releases, all of which play to different markets. Too bad all but one of them is receiving atrocious reviews. ~Chris

2010’s Kick Ass was a film you either loved or hated. Outside of loving the performances of Nicolas Cage and Chloë Grace Moretz, I mostly fell into the latter category. Kick Ass 2 doesn’t appear to be doing much different, which could account for its general lack of buzz, or it could just be a general overload from audiences on superhero movies. It’s honestly hard to tell.

The success of Precious may have gone to director, Lee Daniels’ head as his latest film bears his name Lee Daniels’ The Butler but hubris or not, this film, which stars Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and John Cusack, actually looks the most interesting out of this week’s crop of film. Inspired by the life of former White House butler Eugene Allen, the film chronicles 34 years in history through the eyes of a man who was there to see them over the course of eight presidents.  [/one_half_last]

Ashton Kutcher stars as Steve Jobs in the dully named biopic, Jobs. Let me say that again, Ashton Kutcher stars as Steve Jobs. I think that might be all one needs to know about that film to make a decision on if they want to see it or not.

Based on the recent television promos, Paranoia touts a stellar cast of Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman and Liam Hemsworth and Amber Heard. I just wish they gave me an indication, any indication, of what the film was actually about. If the trailers can’t explain what the film is about, I can’t imagine it is a film worth going to.
