It has been undeniably slow in theaters over the last couple weeks but that changes in a big way this week with a trio of wide releases, Metallica taking over IMAX screens and Ron Howard’s Rush expanding from its limited run into a full wide release. ~Chris
It’s been a while since we’ve had a solid animated family movie to watch but Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 seems to rectify that problem. The original film was a rousing success for Sony Animation and this one seems to be hitting the same high points.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the hardest working guys in Hollywood. His latest film, Don Jon, puts him in the director’s chair for his first feature film but he also wrote the film and is starring as the title character. This sort-of romantic comedy sees JGL teaming up with the likes of Tony Danza, Scarlett Johansson, and Julianne Moore, so if one can get past the rather explicit themes, this could be something quite fun.

The name Nimrod does not necessarily evoke confidence but that is the unfortunate name of the director of Metallica: Through the Never. Nimrod Antal’s other filmography doesn’t necessarily give me the warm and fuzzies either but this is Metallica’s vision of a concert film and if all it turns out to be is a 90 minute music video featuring imagery from Metallica’s long line of hits, I’ll deem this one a success. Look for a review on the site early next week. [/one_half]
I’m not going to lie. I have no idea what Baggage Claim is about. Based on the above picture it’s about a very attractive flight attendant, so that could be cool I guess. [/one_half_last]
