October is finally here, and with it a few key releases. While the bulk of the big games release at the end of this month and early  in the next, a few will be trickling in each week. This week, it’s NBA 2K14 and Wind Waker HD hitting stores. Now, if you will excuse me, I have more Grand Theft Auto V to play….. ~Don P.

It had been awhile since I had played a basketball game, save NBA Jam, so last year when I played Jay-Z’s NBA 2K13, I was  impressed to say the least. NBA 2K14 (PS3 , PC, & Xbox 360) looks to cut my biggest issue with last years game – overexposure of Executive Producer Jay-Z. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with Jay-Z, or that his music was in the game. But anyone that played NBA 2K13 could easily agree with me that it was a little excessive. This year promises the usual list of enhancements; roster updates, a new mode, and tighter gameplay. I’m sure Tony will have some sort of content up for it in the near future.

[one_half]releases01_rainBrought to you by the same developers behind last years sleeper hit Tokyo Jungle, rain (PS3) is a puzzle adventure game centering around a boy who sees an invisible girl and chases after her. He turns invisible, and continues to search for her despite the other creatures in the invisible world. This is definitely not the kind of game for me, but looks interesting on paper nonetheless.[/one_half]

[one_half_last]releases01_armatacticsArma Tactics (PC), on the other hand, has Don written all over it.  You control a squad of four from a commanding perspective and play through randomized missions. There are some story missions as well, but what I can’t wait for is the Arma Tactics: Day Z Mod. [/one_half_last]

[one_half]releases01_windwakerHdIf you held out for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Wii U), now is the time to pick it up to display that dazzling Wii U case on your shelf. Or, of course, if you are anti-digital or just want to throw more money at Nintendo, buy it a second time. Either way, this game has been getting a lot of applause from all directions, so if you have a Wii U, it sounds like it’s time to put it to use.[/one_half]

[one_half_last]releases01_airconflictsvietnamAirplanes are kind of my thing. Air Conflicts has been a  great series so far, but has needed to push into more modern territory for some time now. I mean, Birds of Steel released and made everything else in the World War II era moot. It sounds like my prayers were answered, as Air Conflicts: Vietnam (PC) is coming out this week. A modernized face-lift could be all the series needs to inject some more life into it, and with Ace Combat taking a free-to-play approach, it will fill a now-empty gap in that subspace.[/one_half_last]
