We are still a few weeks away from big releases coming to store shelves, but if you haven’t spent enough on PC digital goods this past week, there’s a few things coming out. And for those confused about Hot Shots Golf, the Vita version is coming to consoles. I have yet to determine if I am excited for that or not, being as I am a big golf gamer. Either way, I have a mess of games in my Steam library that are calling my name, so until next week…~Don P.
The 16-bit era of gaming was rich with RPG’s. And now we are gaming in an era of remakes, reimaginings, and whatever other words you can attach “re-” to. Shadowrun Returns (PC) is the sequel to a classic SNES and Sega RPG, known simply as Shadowrun, and includes a neat editor that lets players craft their own legacy within the universe. Nevermind the story continuation, the built in editor is what really intrigues me about this game and has the potential to shape the way future RPGs can manage replayability.
[one_half]Last week we had the movie tie-in to Turbo, and this week we have Smurfs 2 (DS, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360). However, instead of trying to throw together a sloppy, 3D game, Ubisoft is publishing a 2D platformer. It’s a little more admirable that they took this approach, but it could still end up like any other liscenesed property making a transition to game.[/one_half]
[one_half_last]Stealth games aren’t my gig, but Stealth Inc. – A Clone in the Dark (PS3 & Vita) takes a step in the right direction by trying to tug on my retro roots. A sidescrolling platformer, Stealth Inc. has 80 levels that I know i wouldn’t be able to finish? Why? Because despite it looking neat, I just suck at stealth games.[/one_half_last]
