Welcome to the second PPV for the WWE 2K16 Critically Sane Wrestling fantasy federation. First, for more information on the workings of this, refer to this introduction article. To see the opening PPV from last week, read here. But now, on to Payback 2015!
Last month in CSW, Rusev defeated Seth Rollins to become the WWE Champion in the main event of Extreme Rules. Afterwards, Rusev began feuding with…wait for it….Mark Henry. So instead of this actually being Payback for Rollins, Mark Henry will take his spot facing the Russian brute.
Match 1: Kingston/Woods def. Harper/Rowan to retain Tag Team Championship
Again, I do not like tag team wrestling, so I simmed this match.
Match 2: Seth Rollins def. Jack Swagger to retain US Championship in a Last Man Standing match
Swagger got a lot of offense on despite being bloodied and losing. I was a little concerned poor Rollins would lose, which is who I picked. A Pedigree in the middle of the ring finally ended the match after Rollins took a beating.
Match 3: Randy Savage def. Ryback to win the Intercontinental Championship in a Last Man Standing match
This was a slobberknocker! I picked Savage, mostly due to my hatred for Ryback and wanting to see him lose his undeserved title. At one point, Ryback tried using the steps, but that kind of backfired and he ate those steps several times. Savage won by sending a bloody Ryback through a table and getting the ten count.
Match 4: Kevin Nash def. Stevel Regal
I picked Nash, and took the victory in a filler match. Hopefully Nash will get bumped up into a title match or something. Nash and Regal shook hands afterwards. That was a little weird.
Match 5: Randy Orton def. Daniel Bryan to retain the WWE Championship in a Last Man Standing match
This was a great match. I played as Orton, who ended up winning after being whipped into the corner, and reversing a charging attack with a brutal clothesline. Bryan got up after a few RKO’s and a punt kick, to show his determination, but still stayed down for a 10 count in the end.
Match 6: Rusev def. Mark Henry to retain the World Heavyweight Championship in a Last Man Standing match
Nothing too major for the Raw championship match, Rusev retained. I was hoping he would, and would have been pissed if he (ie. I) lost the match after Rollins dropped the main Raw title. But Rusev prevailed and will head into Money in the Bank as the champion.
Match 7: Undertaker def. Kane in a Last Man Standing match
Much like the previous match, nothing big here besides the Dead Man winning over his brother. Again. After all these years, not sure what kind of Payback they could be seeking, but whatever.
A decent card overall, and a new champion being crowned as icing on the cake. Money in the Bank is next, and should be a good one with Savage as IC champion. Stay tuned next week for that! And I’ve decided to snag screenshots from the matches, so the next one should be better visual wise.
