Another week and another new episode of The Mandalorian. After an episode that did very little to move the overarching plot forward, Chapter 11 pushes it hard. Chapter 11: The Heiress *After an episode where it seemed they were trying a bit too hard to get a laugh, this one opens up with a well earned funny. Due to the condition of The Razor’s Crest after the last adventure, the descent to Trask is sufficiently tense. It seems like Din is able to pull it out and will land it near perfectly before a malfunction throws it off the dock into the ocean. *It’s nice to see the Frog Lady reunite with her husband. *Another solid joke in the cantina where Din get The Child something to eat and a creature jumps out of the bowl and onto The Child’s face. “Don’t play with your food” is delivered so matter of factly that I had a good laugh. *Din getting duped seemed very out of character.
*But it did allow for a seamless entry of the other Mandalorians. *And now we’re moving. Bo- Katan Kryze is a pretty big deal. She’s the leader of Clan Kryze, and the last person to have been known to have held The Darksaber before Moff Gideon revealed he had it at the end of Season One. *Katee Sakhoff, who voiced Bo-Katan in The Clone Wars and Rebels, is playing her here so I applaud the choice. Also Katee is great in everything. *I love how Din just doesn’t have the knowledge about the world at large. When Bo-Katan and her crew take off their helmets he immediately believes them to be imposters because his clan, Children of the Watch are a religious cult that follows an old dated Mandalorian creed known as The Way. *Despite Bo-Katan saving Din and The Child, Din takes his leave as his quest does not align with hers. This of course leads to another instance of these new Mandalorians having to come to Din aid and finally an agreement that they should work together so as to help each other. It’s a smart plan that helps to push things forward. *The action here is excellent. Everything on the cruiser is fun. I loved when the Captain asks for a report on how many “pirates” are attacking and his on the ground report is that there must be at least 10 of them but his pilot reveals that bioscans reveal it is just four people.
*I really like Din’s ability to throw himself into harm’s way for the good of those he is helping but it also seems a bit… reckless. He has a quest and I’m not sure that anybody other than him is going to take it up if he dies. *Anyway, the overall plot pushes forward in this episode. We now know that Bo-Katan is searching for Moff Gideon, specifically to retrieve The Darksaber. She plans on putting a Mandalorian on the Mandalore throne with it, which means we’ll definitely be seeing more of her. And Din learns that he needs to head to Corvus to find none other than Ahsoka Tano. *I have a feeling that next week will be a filler episode with Ahsoka showing up in the fifth episode of the season and some set up for the finale (in Chapters 15 and 16) but we’ll see. And that’s if for this week, what did you think of the latest episode of The Mandalorian?
