Due to several varying addictions to rental games throughout the year, I missed a few key titles from 2015 that I really need to sample. I already knocked one off this list, by playing a little bit of Rise of the Tomb Raider, which felt much like the previous game. While most people enjoyed that, I loved the first reboot as it was and had no real desire to play more of it when I was finished. That being said, here’s a list of three other games from 2015 that are on my bucket list to play this year.

1: Dying Light

I love zombies, I love games, and I love zombie games, so how I missed this in 2015 baffles me. Even one of my best friends was playing this and talked highly of it. I believe I was deep into Destiny and perhaps Final Fantasy Record Keeper at the time, but hopefully by this summer I can swing through this zombie action game.

2: Metal Gear Solid V; The Phantom Pain

I keep trying to say or write The Phantom Menace every time I mention this game. Anyhow, this has been sitting by my Xbox One for a good month or so now, but I just haven’t been able to convince myself to get into it. I mean, I hear it’s not like the past games after you get through the beginning, and the game really sounds promising. But between Halo 5, Rainbow Six, Elder Scrolls Online, and WWE Supercard, I just can’t find the time. I’m going to make a point to give this game some quality time in the coming weeks- I’ve been told I just can’t let this one slide.

3: Need for Speed

Originally, Rise of the Tomb Raider was supposed to be here in this slot. But I ended up playing it first. Regardless, the NFS reboot has been sitting by my Xbox for awhile, untouched. A significant update that corrected at least one of my big issues (AI rubber banding) released, and I feel compelled to sink my teeth back into this. More customizations have been added, too, as well as a new quest line. I only dug a few hours in during my first go-around, but was so disgusted with a minor detail (RX-7’s don’t have camshafts, by the way….) that I tossed the game aside. It’s sitting there, begging to be played again, and it’s on my list of games to try (or re-try, in this case) from 2015.

That’s my short-list of games from 2015 I need to give a go at. Looking at other console releases, there wasn’t much else. If I end up with a Wii U this year, this list would be drastically different, but between a 3DS, Xbox One, and (unsupported) Vita, this was all that’s in my bucket list.
