Little Switzerland is a charming alpine-style village, but most people tend to visit for a day (as part of their Blue Ridge Parkway road trip) or a weekend getaway. For more of a challenge, the Plunge Basin Trail approaches the waterfall from the opposite side and will take you to the bottom of the falls. Tip The GPS may not take you directly to the tunnel, but you can find it at milepost 333.4 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Road cyclists, this section of the Blue Ridge Parkway is an amazing ride with scenic overlooks and stops. The uphill trek can be a bit of a slog, especially when its muddy after a rain.
