I’ve been spending some time casually enjoying Final Fantasy X HD Remastered lately. Not only is it just a solid, all-around good game, but it’s a lovely nostalgic trip through memory lane. Seeing the bond between Yuna and Tidus grow, while watching him help her without knowing what is going to inevitably happen to her during the Final Summoning puts a whole new perspective on the game for those  of us that have finished it. This got me thinking though, what other Square-Enix titles would I like to relive in HD and with all of the bells and whistles of modern gaming?

1. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII HD Remastered

More than anything else I can think of, this needs to happen. By far, Crisis Core is my favorite Final Fantasy title.  It mixed quick, burst-style gameplay with an engaging story and unforgettable characters. Crisis Core was perfect on the PSP, and with a fresh coat of paint and trophy support, would make an even better Vita version. Throw in a PS3/PS4 version for console gamers with cross-save functionality, and this is a truck load of cash waiting to be delivered.

2. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King HD Remastered

Truth be told, I didn’t get around to playing as much of this as I would like to admit. But that doesn’t change the fact that I would love seeing an HD remake. I always loved the graphics in this game, or any cell-shaded game to be honest. An important note, it’s a well known fact that Eastern RPG’s aren’t the same caliber on consoles as they used to be. At least not as frequently, so this would be a welcome addition to my PS3 shelf.

TFT_ParasiteEve

3. Parasite Eve 1 and Parasite Eve 2 HD Remastered

I think this one would be trickier, due to being PSOne titles. These two games were such an important part of the PSOne library that it’s hard to argue that it shouldn’t be brought back in some way, even if it is just a light brush up on the graphics. The first game, particularly, caught my fancy with it’s rather unique free-form battles. At the time, I was just used to standard turn-based RPG’s where two lines of enemies fought it out. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that it had a strong female lead and the story was good.

If you had to think of a few games you’d like to see get the HD treatment from yesteryear, leave us a comment below.
