This week is the peak of the storm. If you had a week of vacation time left, this was the week to take it. Granted not every game will appeal to every gamer. But I have at least slight interest in five of the games on this list and would like to play them at some point. Whether I do or not, is a different story. After this week, releases go back to trickling through, Which is great, really. A good game every week gets to be a little much. But I tell you what, after watching a comparison trailer of the Grand Theft Auto V on last gen consoles and this weeks release, I am probably more excited about that than I had been since it was announced. And online heists are finally coming, too. Oh..yeah…~Don P.

Releases18_Pokemon

The Pokemon remakes are something I eagerly wait for. I still remember when Fire Red / Leaf Green came out, a reinvention of the original games that started the craze. Playing the original game with loads of enhancements, better graphics, and sprinkled with new Pokemon was a treat. Pokemon Alpha Sapphire / Omega Ruby (3DS) takes the third generation of Pokemon games and packs it full of new and updated features. There are a ton of Mega Evolutions this time around, for one. I think they listed a few thousand. Just kidding, but really, if you liked Mega Evolutions in the X / Y, you are about to be overwhelmed with new ones. The underground bases are what I can’t wait for- I really want to be able to customize my own space, invite people in, street pass people and their bases, and turn it into my own Gym. The one thing I don’t look forward to is raising a Feebas’ “Pretty” rating enough to evolve it into a Milotic, one of my personal favorites. Anyhow, this is a great Christmas time game, and an adventure I can share with both my son and one of my best friends back home. I can’t wait.

Releases18_WWE

Sting has finally returned to a wrestling game. WWE 2K15 (Xbox One and Playstation 4) finally comes to current-gen consoles this week. The Xbox One and Playstation 4 get a few exclusive features, one of which being the MyCareer mode. While last year’s career mode was fun, it wasn’t really a career mode in the sense of what one should deliver. Of course, there’s also a presentation upgrade, but that’s to be expected at this point.  My only concern this year is the seemingly disappointing lack of classic superstars. Last year, I loved playing the wrestlers that built the industry. But, we’ll see. Perhaps playing with Sting (who is a pre-order) will compensate for playing with all of those other historical figures?

[one_third]Releases18_GTA5Grand Theft Auto V (PS4 and Xbox One) was a great game last year. I would be a horrible person if I didn’t remind people that it’s coming to Xbox One and PS4 finally. Also, online heists are coming soon. And there’s a new first-person mode.[/one_third]

[one_third]Releases18_DAIThis game is kind of a big deal to most people. So I know I would get yelled at if I left  Dragon Age: Inquisition (PC, PS4, and Xbox One) off. It looks incredibly good, and it’s on my list of games to play this year. [/one_third]

[one_third_last]Releases18_Farcry4If that isn’t enough, Far Cry 4 (PC, PS3, PS4, X360, and Xbox 360) is also coming out this week. If none of the above tickled your fancy, maybe Far Cry 4’s open world full of villages, animals, and lush scenery will.[/one_third_last]

[one_third]Releases18_Smash Wii U gets some love this week, too, with Super Smash Bros. Wii U (Wii U). Think of the 3DS version, with more mayhem and on a bigger screen. Also, there’s a lot more to do. This is one of the first times I thought about buying a Wii U since it launched.[/one_third]

[one_third]Releases18_LBP3One of the games that gets played the most in my living room besides Minecraft and the LEGO games is the predecessor to LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS3 and PS4). On the one hand, I’m disappointed Sony is pushing this on the old and new console, but on the other, I’m thankful because I can wait a little longer to buy a PS4. [/one_third]

[one_third_last]Releases18_EscapeDeadIslandLastly, we have Escape Dead Island (PC, PS3, and X360). I guess since there was not an adventure game about zombies coming out this week, it was a prime time to drop this…gem?[/one_third_last]
