This week is the big week. Sony ushers us into the next-generation with the Playstation 4, and has a great set of launch titles. However, most of those are already out on current-generation consoles. That’s okay though, I am sure everyone waited to pick up Call of Duty: Ghosts and Angry Birds Star Wars for PS4, but there are other games coming out too. ~Don P.

Firaxis has always known how to do expansions for their strategy games. They deliver a few little pieces after launch, and then work on a massive piece of content that compliments the structure of its base game. XCOM: Enemy Within (PC, PS3, and Xbox 360) adds multiple new things to spice things up. Enemy Unknown was a great game, but now you can face new enemies, learn new skills, customize your soldiers in new ways, and battle on new maps. That’s a lot of new content, and a great reason to dig back into the game and try to save humanity – again.

[one_half]releases12_pixeljunkshooterThe Pixeljunk games have been some of the best downloadable games on the Playstation Network, and have slowly been moving over to PC. The latest to make the jump, Pixeljunk Shooter (PC), was one that I only played the demo of, but it was fun. For those that haven’t played it yet, there is now an opportunity to do so, and the way Steam has sales all the time you can probably pick it up pretty cheap down the road. Oh, and Steam Trading Cards. Sold.[/one_half]

[one_half_last]releases12_InjusticeOne of the games I keep forgetting came out this year is getting an “Ultimate Edition” to remind us all in time for the holidays. Injustice: Gods Among Us – Ultimate Edition (PC, PS3, PS4, Vita, and Xbox 360) is a bundle of the main game, the six DLC characters, 60 new missions, and 30 new skins. If you skipped out back in April, which you should not have, it’s a good time to pick it up, especially on the two new platforms (Vita and PS4).[/one_half_last]

[one_half]releases12_worldofwarplanesWorld of Tanks was an addicting free-to-play game, and one of the reasons I want to buy an Xbox 360 despite a wave of next-gen consoles and games upon us. Airplanes are kind of a big deal for me, too. So if you mix the two, theoretically, I should love its offspring all the more. World of Warplanes (PC) is that offspring. The best part of this is the different eras – from the 1930’s to the Korean war, there is a little bit of everything. So if I’m in the mood for jets, great. If I’d rather fly around in a bi-plane, I could do that too.  [/one_half]

[one_half_last]releases12_killzoneI enjoyed the last few Killzone games, especially Killzone Mercenary. But Killzone: Shadow Fall (PS4) has a few things going its way. First, it’s a first-party exclusive Playstation 4 title, so it has been built with the PS4 and only the PS4 in mind. There may or may not be any truth in my feelings, but I always feel key first-party titles tend to outshine the third-party releases. Either way, Shadow Fall would be one of the few titles I would be picking up if I was getting a Playstation 4 this week.[/one_half_last]
