I’m going to be honest with you guys here for a minute, not that I’m not always honest with you ladies and gents on a regular basis, but I haven’t felt well all weekend. So this week is about Titanfall and Dark Souls 2, something I couldn’t let slide since Titanfall is such a big deal around here at Critically Sane. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go consume more medicine. Enjoy. ~Don P.

Originally, I was not interested in this Titanfall (PC & Xbox One) game that everyone was raving about at all. I do like mechs, and I do like shooting things in games. It just didn’t sound enticing for one reason or another. And then the beta came out. While I didn’t get a chance to play it, the fact that two members said I would love it was really enough. I love progression systems. A lot. One of my favorite parts, though, is that they are blending single-player and multiplayer together by adding bots to the mayhem. So now it’s not just you and a handful of people, there’s some cannon fodder for when you aren’t feeling at your prime. Fun Fact – Titanfall is one of the tipping stones that is making me lean getting an Xbox One first. This coming from someone who doesn’t own an Xbox 360.

I don’t have as much to say about Dark Souls II (PS3 & Xbox 360) but it’s still a rather big deal. For people who are not into shooters, or do not have a current-gen console, it’s also releasing at a good time. I never played Demon Souls, or Dark Souls for that matter, but it may be time to break into the “Yes master, please hurt me plenty” niche that this game seems to tie up other gamers in.

The one I forgot about until I got to the bottom was Towerfall Ascension (PC & PS4), a pixel-y archery game with a local co-op campaign and multiplayer. It’s gotten high scores from other sites, so don’t be fooled by the retro look. Towerfall Ascension looks fast-faced and like a great challenge, so if the above games aren’t up your alley, you may look into this one if you are in need of a new game.
