After a week with no releases, a whole bunch of games gets dumped on us this week. I’m still behind on everything and playing the first expansion to Borderlands 2, but my wife sure as hell is excited for this weeks new content.

Ultimately this week is kind of nice, because there really is a little bit for everyone. And strategy gamers no longer have to decide between two epic releases being as the Civilization V expansion was delayed a few weeks. Yay, right? ~Don P.

Borderlands-2-Tiny-Tina-Don

Personally, I think Tiny Tina is the best thing about Borderlands 2 and I’m pretty sure others will agree with me about that. Sadly though, she is just a footnote to the campaign, with her part being extremely brief in the grand scheme of things. Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep (PC, PS3, and Xbox 360) aims to remedy this problem by making our beloved Tina the main focus of the new expansion pack. Well, besides more mindless shooting and loot whoring, that is.

[one_half]DARK-Chris

At E3 2012, I had the pleasure of taking a sneak peek at Kalypso’s upcoming fantasy stealth game, DARK (PC). The gameplay looked fun for a genre I generally avoid like the plague, but what really had me enamored was the rich and colorful world. Despite being such a (excuse the pun) dark game, everything was so very vibrant.[/one_half]

[one_half_last]Game and Wario

Game and Wario (Wii U) is a collection of 16 mini games that utilize the game pad in various ways. I don’t really have much of an opinion about this besides the fact that the Wii U needs some games, so it probably deserves some sort of highlight. I guess to be fair, I did enjoy the Warioware game on the DS, so I would totally play this if I had a Wii U. (EDITOR’S NOTE: I have a WiiU and don’t want to play this game, take from that what you will)   [/one_half_last]

[one_third]Fat PrincessThe Best of Playstation Network: Volume 1 (PS3) combines four hit PSN games; Fat Princess, Tokyo Jungle, Sound Shapes, and When Vikings Attack into one odd mix. The weird one, for me anyways, is When Vikings Attack, a game I have never heard someone say “DUDE, you HAVE to check out When Vikings Attack!”. The other three games have some merit being on here, so maybe they just thought “*shrug* Let’s throw this random game no one played on there so people will play it.”[/one_third]

[one_third]LEGO ChimaNot quite on the epic scale of recent LEGO games, LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey (Vita/3DS) still has that LEGO appeal to kids. My eight year old son bugs me about pretty much any game with the word “LEGO” in it. This appears to nix the new, open-world formula that have made games like LEGO Batman 2 a hit, so for those of us that played the original LEGO Star Wars games we can just think of it as a “throwback” but set in an original LEGO universe. [/one_third]

[one_third_last]Ride to Hell RetributionWhen I read the opening paragraph on the Wikipedia description for Ride to Hell: Retribution (PC, PS3, and Xbox 360), I thought I was reading about the beginning of my favorite TV show, Sons of Anarchy. War vet comes home, can’t fit into society, starts biker club, etc. etc. The developer, Eutechnyx, actually developed one of my favorite racing games, The Fast and the Furious on Playstation 2, which was a neat fun-fact I learned this week, too. [/one_third_last]

Company-of-Heroes-2-Tony

Company of Heroes 2 (PC) was another game I got to see demo’ed at E3 in 2012. Up until that appointment, I was always under the impression all real-time strategy games were basically like Starcraft so I never game them a chance. When I watched the developers play through a mission of Company of Heroes 2, I quickly changed my way of thinking and purchased the original game shortly afterwards. I haven’t played much of the original due to time constraints, but I’m really hoping to dig into COH2 at some point in the near future. The “freezing soldiers” effects were really a selling point – in a weird, sadistic way.
