It’s a good time to be a strategy gamer, that’s for sure. The big RTS franchise, Wargame releases a new game, Age of Wonder 3 came out not too long ago, Crusader Kings II’s latest expansion was just last month, and last week gave us Warlock 2: The Exile. I put a large dent in Warlock 2 over the weekend, and thankfully, I’m not playing anything new this week. Though, if I had a PS4, I’d be all over Pure Chess. That game was solid on the Vita… ~Don P.

The last two Wargame’s took place in Europe, but Wargame: Red Dragon (PC) moves the conflict to Asia. Every press release I have seen on this (and the previous Wargame title) made sure to let people know this is a serious RTS, for serious strategy gamers. Sadly, I’m more into turn-based strategy, but I have been itching to try this series. The trailers always make the battles look epic and the dynamic campaign, back from AirLand Battle (the previous title in the series), is a neat feature I would love to sample.

[one_half]Releases15_BattleAcademySteam’s store has a lot of perks. But a lot of games come out that get missed by people like me that just browse the Steam store every day. Battle Academy (PC) has been out for a few years now, yet I had never heard of it. Now it’s coming to Steam, with cross-platform play (even alongside the iPad). 3 campaigns, multiplayer, and a ton of units to learn and use, Battle Academy could be for you if you like strategy games. Though, with so many great ones releasing lately, it may get overlooked regardless.[/one_half]

[one_half_last]Releases15_FF14While the game is not new, per se, it is worth noting that if you have been playing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Realm Reborn (PS4) on the PS3, you can upgrade for free to the PS4 version. I believe the disclaimer says it will run up until the end of the year, but for those that this applies to, you can read here for more information. [/one_half_last]
