The Walking Dead – Season 3

With Breaking Bad now over, there is a huge hole in my weekly television viewing. Fortunately AMC has me covered bringing the fourth season of their highly watched horror drama, The Walking Dead. While the show has had its ups and downs in the past, the last few episodes of of season three were spectacular and set the stage for an explosive start to this season. Can Rick regain control of the prison? How and when will the Governor extract his revenge? And will Daryl be able to overcome the death of his brother? These are all questions that need to be answered and we can start getting them real soon.

Assassin’s Creed 4

Assassin’s Creed 3 largely favored style over substance. While the new setting was intriguing and the game filled with a host of new mechanics, abilities and activities, it was very unrefined. A host of bugs and a generally lack of cohesive design prevented the title from fully reaching its potential. Hope rises anew, however, in Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. The ship piloting returns in a new pirate setting, as we learn the origins of Connor’s grandfather and his rocky relationship with the Assassin order. My biggest hope for this title is that the naval combat, a highlight of the previous game, becomes fully realized, with wonderful ranged battles and deadly boarding melees. I look forward to taking the wheel and taking some prizes when this title launches in late October.

Battlefield 4

Words can’t express my excitement for Battlefield 4. I was hoping for Bad Company 3, but I still loved Battlefield 3’s multiplayer component quite a bit and am more than willing to settle for my second choice. DICE teased dynamic environments in Battlefield 3, but it looks like they are finally going to utilize that mechanic in the next installment. Having random shifts in the environment and map layout has me drooling with anticipation. A video recently that showed a complete overhaul in the weapon customization, another thing thatt gets me excited for online shooters. Setting the single-player campaign aside, Battlefield 4 is positioning itself at the forefront of what I play for the rest of the year when it comes to competitive shooters.
