This week old men and turkeys dominate the new releases. Being as I hadn’t heard of the turkey movie nor heard murmurings from my kids I am going to go out on a limb and say no one cares about it. As such, the two movies anyone is going to care about both are old guy vehicles, the most interesting of which sees Harisson Ford returning to the sci-fi genre.~Chris

Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley backstop this Gavin Hood adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s classic science fiction novel, Ender’s Game. While Ford and Kingsley are the names you’ll know going in, the heavy lifting for this film will be done by a pair of younger actors, Kingsley’s Hugo co-star Asa Butterfield and Oscar nominated sweetheart Hailee Steinfeld. The marketing for the film has been all over the place but the great story and collective talent of the cast should assure that this is the sci-fi event of the season.

Michael Douglas, Kevin Kline, Morgan Freeman and Robert DeNiro star in Last Vegas, a geriatric version of The Hangover. Or at least that is what the advertisements for the film would have you believe of this John Turteltaub film. Having seen it, Last Vegas is not that film and it has a lot more heart than it leads one to believe. While much of the film is pretty corny, the four leads appear to be having such a good time that it is infectious and I ultimately had fun with it.
