It has been a while since we’ve done one of these. But it is a new year and as such, it is a new opportunity to create new lists. So without further words in your way, these are the first Power Rankings of 2017.

9t. Friday the 13th (11 points) – If you haven’t heard, there is no new movie coming this year for the long running slasher franchise. But, there is still hope that this multiplayer survival horror title could scratch our itch for Jason’s style of machete wielding mayhem.

9t. For Honor (11 points) – Multiplayer medieval warfare is right up the alley of Tony and Don and this one has a lot of promise behind it.

8. Hitman Season 2 (13 points) – Hitman was a surprise for us last year and ended up being better than we ever could have hoped. Season 2 won’t sneak up on us as easily and now the expectations are that it will be great.

7. Yooka-Laylee (18 points) – After a few years of very grim games, 2017 looks to brighten up the space. Yooka-Laylee, with its strong Rare pedigree, looks to take us there first.

6. Resident Evil 7 (22 points) – We weren’t sure what to expect of RE7 but being a great return to form for the series is exactly what we wanted. Expect RE7 to stick around on this list for a long time.

5. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (23 points, 1 first place vote) – There is a lot riding on Breath of the Wild being a great game but there are a lot of signs that the first big Switch exclusive (and last WiiU one) is just what Nintendo needs it to be.

4. Super Mario Odyssey (26 points, 1 first place vote) – You know what would have gotten people excited about the Switch? New 3D Mario at launch. Instead we have a long wait ahead of us to get what could very well be the happiest game of the year.

3. Horizon Zero Dawn (30 points, 1 first place vote) – Mechanical dinosaurs. ‘Nuff said.

2. Red Dead Redemption 2 (40 points) – If this one hits this year, we will all be super excited. The chances of that happening are very slim. But we can wish right?

1. Mass Effect: Andromeda (42 points, 2 first place votes) – Arguably our favorite series from last gen makes the jump to modern systems and we are obviously very, very excited to shepherd our crew through a new galaxy.

Those are ours, what is on your list?
