A smattering of new releases shatters our power rankings, as titles like Mario Kart 8, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Pokemon, and Divinity Original Sin drop completely, in favor of a host of new titles.
10. South Park: The Stick of Truth (11 points, returns) – Like Kenny, this game returns, even though we kill it over and over again.
9. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (12 points, new) – I think this title was helped by our staff’s love of Nintendo and a hard release date. Toad it up!
8. Assassin’s Creed: Unity (13 points, -1 position change) – This revolution romp drops next month in the thick of a bunch of games. Can’t wait to try the co-op, which looks fantastic.
7. Middle Earth: Shadow of Morder (14 points, -new) – A combination of Batman: Arkham Asylum-style combat with the new nemesis system makes this a can’t-miss title, as well as the most surprisingly good game of 2014.
5 (t). Civilization: Beyond Earth (15 points, +1 position change) – It’s almost here. When this game releases, I may disappear for a while. Don’t wait up.
5 (t). Alien Isolation (15 points, -1 position change) – Sneaky Alien. You’ll never find me here… ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
4. Forza Horizon 2 (16 points, new, 1 first place vote) – I’d write something interesting here, but I’m upset that my friend’s avatar just drove me off the road. Again.
3. Destiny (20 points, -1 position change,1 first place vote) – This title splits our staff. A couple think it’s fantastic. The rest think Bungie has a long way to go to make this the title we were promised.
2. Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition (24 points, +1 position changee) – Second place on our list with no first place votes. A great game, and right now, the ultimate consensus second choice.
1. Titanfall (32 points, no change, 2 first place votes) – Titanfall survives the release of a bunch of great games, and maintains its hold on first place. Some solid post release content and good changes have helped. Maybe Destiny can learn some lessons there.
