As we near the end of the year, there are some huge changes in the power rankings. The disappointment felt by Destiny is felt in its ranking (though one staff member’s love affairs lets the game hold on for dear life at the bottom). Meanwhile, the same couple of titles maintain their lock on the top.  And, finally, Nintendo’s quality year is reflected as a number of the Big N’s titles crack the rankings. It’s pandemonium!

Last Month’s Rankings

10. Destiny (11 points, -8 position change, 1 first place vote) – Bungie’s latest is in a free fall out of our rankings. I’m not sure it will survive another month.

9. Mario Kart 8 (12 points, returning) – Maybe new DLC will boost it in the rankings next month. Or maybe some of the Critically Sane staff need to buy a Wii U.

8. Smash Bros. for Wii U (13 points, new) – It’s Nintendo’s biggest title this fall but… it’s not our love.

6t. Assassin’s Creed: Unity (14 points, +2 position change) – The revolution hits now. But is it the change fans of the series are craving?

6t. South Park: The Stick of Truth (14 points, +4 position change) – I never would have thought a licensed game developed by Obsidian would hang around this long but this LARPing adventure is so much fun.

5. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor (16 points, +2 position change) – Shadow of Mordor surprised us with how good it is and it’s chances for moving up get better and better each day that passes.

4. Forza Horizon 2 (16 points, new, 1 first place vote) – The best open-world racing game. Period.

3. Captain Toad (17 points, +6 position change) – Jeff and Chris are pushing this one on us early, will the adorable Captain Toad and his 3D puzzles be able to win us over by game of the year?

2. Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition (24 points, no change) – Hands down, the best loot fest out there right now.

1. Titanfall (32 points, no change, 2 first place votes) – Titanfall has stood tall all year long and is the front runner heading into the last few weeks of 2014 but will it get past Jeff?
